Brainstorming ideas for logos
Obviously if we are advertising a food company, we need a logo. For the logo I've decided a modern-like logo with a simplistic style will be good to attract the attention of the target audience. Speaking of which, the target audience is both males and females between the ages 13-25, most residing in Essex. Below are some of the ideas I've thought would work quite well for the logo.
As shown, we have each of the logos I've decided to go for. First, there is a logo based on a burger, second a purely-text logo and then finally a more modern-like one. After researching all the logos in the industry that I could, I feel like these correctly match some logos that might exist in the future.
For the first one, it's very similar to the second logo idea and might also be used when only the text is needed in the image. It features essentially the same pieces, except with the slogan moved and the burger buns removed. However, this minimalist design helps with making the logo seem more modern and in-tune with the youth, as many newer logos match this simplistic feel, and therefore match what the youth use. In addition to this, it could be theorised that red and white links with Essex, as the county council logo has a very large amount of red and white in its logo.
In the second logo, we see a big and upfront logo in what could be connoting to a burger bun, with the words Your Food in upper case. The entire image uses a bright red colour, same for the other logos, because of the human brain's reaction behind it. Colours like red and yellow seem to give a reaction in people of increasing hunger, and sometimes raising heart rate. This could mean that when you see these colours it raises the chances that the viewer will use the service due to it making them feel hungry. Furthermore, I used sans serif font (century gothic bold) to make the logo seem modern and exciting to the viewer. It also uses negative space where it spells out the self-made slogan: "Collect. Deliver. Takeout.". It promotes the idea that the service is easy to use, as well as giving a rather clean cut and to-the-point slogan. This is seen in a lot of newer companies especially in the food industry to just tell the audience what it's about.
Finally, we have more of an abstract logo. The logo has the words "Your Food" with the slogan right below, superimposing a larger Y. This is probably one of the most "new" logos created, however I might not use it because of how it, firstly, has too much conflicting colours which might not work on the background, but also it's quite different from what a takeaway service might look like. It looks more like a modern restaurant than a takeaway service, which could conflict with what people think their buying. This means it's unlikely the logo will be used for the final advertisements.
March, 2019
Through progress, I've decided to create a new logo which reminisces to the Essex culture by taking the County Council logo (public use permitted). This will probably end up being the final logo unless changed in the survey, as it shows a great insight into the service by using location and also using the typical red colour found in the rest of the logos.
